The Trump vs. Amazon Battle

Donald Trump vs. Amazon – is this a battle that will take priority if and when Trump is elected as President of the United States? According to Trump, Jeff Bezos will face some major problems if he’s elected.

Trump has spoken out about his feelings on Amazon.com on several occasions. He has stated that Amazon has a “huge antitrust problem” and accused Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos of utilizing his ownership of The Washington Post to sway politicians towards giving Amazon tax breaks.

“The Washington Post is owned as a toy by Jeff Bezos, who controls Amazon. Amazon is getting away with murder tax-wise,” stated Trump, according to CNBC.com. “He’s using the Washington Post for power so that the politicians in Washington don’t tax Amazon like they should be taxed.”

It’s true that Bezos has been involved in more than one tax lawsuit concerning Amazon due to issues that involve tax evasion and improper financial procedures. He has managed to slip under the radar, but if the Trump vs. Amazon battle does indeed commence after this year’s election, Bezos may need to reconsider his tax practices to protect himself and his business.

In addition, Donald Trump has commented on the fact that Americans do not need to worry about their jobs being taken by immigrants willing to work for lower wages, but instead, about Chinese manufacturers taking these jobs for an even cost. The core issue at hand when it comes to the Trump vs. Amazon situation is the manner in which Amazon’s business practices may impact American citizens and their businesses. Is it fair? No. But the term “fair” is certainly not synonymous with “business”.

Will Donald Trump get in the way of Amazon’s rapidly growing market dominance, or will he shake hands with Bezos and pose for a legendary Kodak moment? The latter isn’t likely. However, in a recent statement, Jeff Bezos expressed that he is not threatened at all by the Presidential candidate’s statements.
