Compatibility Advertising & How to Avoid Trademark Complaints on Amazon

Compatibility advertising is when you’re selling a product that is compatible with a specific brand.

Examples include ink for a particular printer, or pods for different types of coffee machines like Nespresso or Keurig.

If you are specifically naming a brand in your listing, you must make sure you are labeling it properly if it is a compatible item for a certain brand because you will run into issues with trademark compliance if you don’t. It is the brand’s right to make sure that their name is being used properly.

These are usually easy solves that you can rectify yourself by modifying your listing titles, descriptions, even your keywords. You have to check everywhere to make sure that you are not blatantly saying that this is for (example) Nespresso’s product because they will find you and they will make a trademark complaint against you.

So, just be prepared for that and keep in mind what you can do to prevent trademark complaints.
